Where Does the Time Go? Time Management

I need better time management. I hate getting to the end of my day and asking myself “where in the world did my day go?”

My kids are not over-scheduled.  I use my crock-pot way too often according to my kids, so I’m not stuck in the kitchen at night.

My work hours are flexible and I do a lot of it late at night.  So where in the world do my days go?

pocket watchOnce when my teenager complained about his lack of “free” time, we did the math. How much time he had between getting off the bus everyday from school and the time he has to go  to his room at night.

The hours available sounded great…but they just seem to disappear.  And while the kiddos feel the pinch on getting in play time, I feel the pinch in getting anything done, let alone getting a moment to sit down and kick off my shoes.

So what’s a girl to do?

Time Management Tips

I’ve been doing some research to help me become better at my time management and I’d love to hear your thoughts.

For Work

Timothy Ferriss’ book The 4-Hour Workweek has been life changing for me.  I’ve been reading it for over a year and continue to find new things as I re-read different parts.  Someday I’m going to sit down and read the whole thing cover to cover.

If you don’t have time to read a book, read this Top 10 List at Entrepreneur.com for some quick guidelines to turn things around.

At Home

I’ve referenced it before and I will probably reference it again, but I LOVE the Fly Lady who helps break down home management in bite sized pieces and really makes you feel empowered and like you have a semblance of control in what can certainly be the chaos of a home filled with kids!
